From birth to early childhood there wasn't much stress to us in this world. We lived the happy life with laughter and fun; through the coming ages we started to experience stress and much worries. Whether your in college or not something has put stress in your life, but you can't just stop and dwell on it and let it effect you negatively LIFE GOES ON! Sometimes you just have to tell yourself to just relax, everything will just be fine in the end. Don't give up.....

*I actually tied in my Dr. Seuss book project with this art project as well. In my Gateways class, I had to write a book telling a story of my first year here at UT. I experienced a lot of stress and freaking out when it came to some classes, but in the end it all worked out. So the book is a little motivation for myself when I experience some stress in college thinking nothing will get done. In reality everything will get done it just takes time and you will feel a huge relief when that time comes!

My fun trip!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving break because I am! I wanted to show you guys some pictures of my fantastic trip I took New Orleans before our break. I really didn't think there was going to be so much art around the town, but there was and I loved it! I wish  I had more time to actually go inside the art museums, but when I do go back I will make sure I visit some of the museums.
This was actually a little book store we found of the cut of Bourbon St. and it was just crazy inside with books from the floor to the ceiling! We could barely take out a book from its shelves because we were scared all the books would fall!

This piece was outside of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art

I first seen this piece across the street when I was walking, and at first I thought it was a lock of hair till I walked across the street and noticed it was rope all undone. I forgot which museum this was.

This was a huge window inside the Hyatt Hotel which I was staying at, I thought it was pretty neat!

Performance Art Project.....

So here's my performance art video!!!! I'm glad the class liked my video and laughed at some parts. I wish I could have got a scene at the mall or Walmart; that would have been awesome. This project was pretty fun to make, only thing I hated was to depend on others to help me that was the worst thing about it. Overall I think it turned out great though, it was a learning experience. I plan to make more videos in the future. I liked the video Vito did when he followed people around. That's pretty interesting especially since I'm a person that always watches other people and my surroundings.

Also I'm a little bummed out I won't be in class Thursday to watch everyone's performances and the reactions from the class and others. I hope every one post their video ASAP so I can watch them all.  I'm going to New Orleans to represent UT and the Helios program at a leadership conference Thursday morning for a whole weekend so I'm really excited! Its my first time heading to NOLA, so I'll take tons of pictures and post some here. Good luck on your videos!!!!

Performance art artist....

We are now in the beginning of our next project "The performance art". This was my second day looking up performances, and I just wasn't finding anything I actually loved and could relate to in a way. So today I just searched performance art videos, and Jay Z's 'Picasso Baby' came up. Jay Z is a well know rapper in the hip hop industry, and recently on his new cd he has a song named 'Picasso Baby'. By listening to the lyrics, Jay Z is saying he is pretty much the  modern day Picasso. He also names many other artist and art pieces in his lyrics as well; He is a walk of art!
So I came across this link about 'Picasso Baby' and I was informed that Jay Z did an performance art piece to this song in an New York Art Gallery. They said it was a 6 hour performance, and it actually made a debut on HBO.  I found a link that included a 10min video of his performance and of many other things. I found this very interesting and awesome. I think everyone should watch this clip, it just shows how Jay Z really is. I always thought he was a  little uptight, but he just seems energetic, happy and fun! I wish I could have experience this performance, just by watching this in my room I could feel great vibes! Also one more thing Marina Abramovic attended this performance, I think this is great! We just talked about her performances in class, there are also many other artist that attended and I'm sure you will recognize them. This piece is great and there's so much discussion that could talk about this piece. This is a must WATCH!!!!

Copier Project....

Yesterday's class was very interesting! I loved getting a chance to see everyone's work, it showed that everyone are creative and different in many ways. I think all the projects came out great. I'm pleased with my project, but as I was telling the class I wish I could of copied my tattoo in there. That would have been awesome, that was my idea in the first place, but my friend never came through to letting me use his scanner or copier. I'm glad the class gave me the idea of using a scarred breast or even breast to add in the project. I guess I wasn't thinking too extreme :(. Anyways I'm excited for next project!
Here is my project

What do you think about this?

Well I grabbed The Minaret today while getting lunch, and I run across this story titled "Naked for Charity: Airline and Rowing Team Release Seminude Calendar". I was very curious to read this story since I just recently got on Tampa's Rowing Team, how exciting! Well anyways I read this story and the women and men's rowing team at Warwick University posted nude for a charity calendar. The women's calendar supports the Macmillan Cancer support, while the men's calendar supports bullying and homophobia in schools. I don't know how to feel about this, I think its a great cause, but I don't know if I could do this. What do you guys think about it?

Here's a picture of some of the women, you can look up more pictures for both. "Warwick Rowing Nude"

Copier Project....

So I haven't started my project yet, but I do have the idea of everything. I just hope it works out right and I don't run out of ideas. Also I have to find a copier to use.....I'll see how the library is looking tomorrow night.

Thoughts....

As I thought about our next project in class, I didn't really have to second guess it. I immediately picked POP ART to use as my art movement inspiration. Pop art always catches my eye, so I think this project will be really fun and creative to do. I'm not sure what my concepts will be yet, I'm still brainstorming.....

Finally done with the grid art project....

Having a grid art project was pretty cool! I had an idea of making a picture of the "love" statue in Philly, but that idea went out the box once I started my project. I was in Michaels for about 45mins. thinking of ideas and making sure I got the right materials and enough of them. I thought I was going to get buttons the same size, but that was not the case I had to get different size buttons; I had to work with what u had. Once I actually started the project after cutting a foam board. worrying if it would work I started with a idea on a pattern on the outside border, but once I got to  the middle my ideas started to change. I was very interested in this project and my crafty mind just took over. I know you probably didn't  noticed, but I got carried away and was way off grid, but I had to work with that I was already too far ahead. My challenges with this project were the spacing since my buttons where circular, another thing was I wasn't sure on the amount of buttons I needed, so I end up going to the store again because I didn't have enough small buttons. In the little bags there weren't a even amount of buttons so the different sizes weren't all the same quantity. I added a bow & arrow in the project since love and a bow and arrow combine together. My friend also noticed a heart in the project as well, this wasn't planned but it came out right. So the word love, and the bow&arrow, and the heart were all together which was great! I'm glad everyone liked my project, I think if I were put in a art class with many different crafts for days I would make something outrageous! Great project, since this was my first art class in college I really enjoyed this project because it made me feel like I was in elementary school because we always did projects. This project made me relaxed a lot!

Grid Art Progress

I am having fun with this grid art project, only thing is I ran in to a little minor problem. I'm sure you guys won't even notice it when I present it in class. I can't wait to see everyone's finish project, it should be very interesting!!!!
I also wanted to share with you guys a picture I took over the summer in New York. I just realized it relates to grid art; I made these strawberry cupcakes myself yum!

Passion

In class today, I loved that we talked about passion. Becoming older and older you realize what you really want to in life, and it becomes a passion. I want to work with a professional sports team, or at a D1 college. My dream is  to work with the pros though, which I think about all the time. I actually work for a pro team now, the Tampa Bay Lightning; I am a sales rep for the 50/50 Foundation. Its a great opportunity, but of course not the field I want to do . I'm aiming at event management or operations for a team and I'm going to get there very soon and no one is going to stop me!

Grid Art Idea for sure.....

So I have decided that I do want to recreate the "Love" picture, but I'm not sure what I my material will be. I have been browsing around, but I have not found a material that catches my eye. I think if I just go to Michael's and look around I would find the perfect material.

Grid Art Idea....

This grid art project should be interesting; I really have no clue on what I should do. I liked the idea with the little beads, but that is very risky plus all my beads are at home. I'm thinking about making a "Love" piece work, but I'm not sure what my materials would consist of. I need more ideas on this project, so I'll keep looking up materials.

My first flipbook!

Well making my flipbook is not going so well! I have a picture in my mind on how I want my story to look, but I don't have much space in my book to draw because of the words. Also this is very time consuming, I don't know if I have the patience for the finishing product. Its only my first flipbook, so it won't look like a pro made it, I'm trying to draw simple things as much as possible.

CD/ DVD/ BLU RAY

Background

Compact Discs

A compact disc is a storage medium with digital data recorded on its surface. An optical beam reads the CD and reproduces the sound. Because the beam does not touch the CD, there is no wear and tear on the disc.

Digital Versatile Discs

Digital versatile discs (DVDs) work in a manner very similar to CDs. Like a CD, a DVD is a disc layered with pits and lands. A DVD, though, can have more than one layer to it; a CD does not. Because of this, a DVD can hold about seven times more data than a CD.

Blu-ray Disc

Blu-ray DiscBlu-ray (not Blue-ray) also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a new optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson). The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video and audio codecs will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience.

History

Social Impact

In my opinion,I think cd's and dvd's have made a huge impact on the society. We first had theater then we slowly transitioned to cd's then dvd's. From there we could listen and watch from our own homes. The big impact that we have now from technology is 3D Blu-Ray. This is changing the whole society, for consumers to buy 3D HD televisions now. Another thing is the society has a variety of topics to talk about amongst each other about the lastest cd or dvd release.

My Photography World

I am so happy that this week in class we are talking about photography! I love photos and not only that I have a little photography business on the side. Most people think I'm majoring in Photography, but I'm not. I think once I'm done getting my Sport Management degree I think I might go to school for photography, but I'm not sure. As of now I only take photos as a hobby, and a little side business for the fun of it.  I wanted to share one of my photos that I actually got developed onto a canvas.
The story to this photo: One day my mom was telling me to come look at this dragonfly that won't move in the garage. I went to go look and there sure was a beautiful dragonfly on my mom's truck. It would not move, so I figured something was wrong with it's wing. I was right something was wrong with him, we tried to help him go, but he just fell to the ground :(. I got a beautiful picture though, I just love how vivid his colors are up close.

Angel de Quinta's STAGE DOOR Blog....

I think this excerpt of The Music Man used technology in a creative way by stars in the background that actually looked real. They also made a moon in the back, which I didn't noticed till the scene was almost over. The lighting that were on the couple also made a real live moon effect on them. The technology in this scene was used great to give off a  real effect.

I think this little clip of the Pippen performance was great! I think they used a lot of technology that made the show what it is today. All the lighting helps to draw peoples attention to the stage. Also the swing things that the cast was swinging in the air help as well.

I was exciting to watch this broadway; I didn't even know there was one for A Christmas Story. I watch this movie every year. I think the things that stood out the most to me in this play was the fact that the broadgrounds could transition so smoothly to another scene. That shows that the tech crew wanted the background to change quick. I'm sure technology has come along way in broadways for transitioning.

With this broadway clip, I had to watch it twice to really get what was used from technology. I think the way the scene props were used were great. This was another transition play that went great. I wonder how the scene props moved from being on stage. It looked so prĂ©cised that I don't think a person would have did it. Maybe it was a machine. Even the backgrounds changed fast, I remember looking at the background then all of a sudden a big clock was in the background.

This was a older play, so I didn't see too much different creative technology  involved. I did noticed the music instruments had a lot of involvement with the cast. The music synced with the cast members movement which I thought made the show more interesting.

I didn't really think this was a broadway show since they were in the middle of a orchestra. I think the technology in this play was the orchestra. All the sounds in the show came right from the orchestra that was right behind the characters. I think the orchestra actually made the show in this particular
show.

Wow a throwback in Instagram terms! Watching this video just shows how times have change with picture quality and instruments as well. Performances have come along way all together, between costumes, microphones, and sound quality.

Janeyne Butterfly...

In class this week, I was very impressed by the pole dancing from Janeyne Butterfly. It was the fact that she could express her body on a pole. When you think pole dancing some think of strippers, but apparently some just like to do different incredible things on a pole that doesn't really pertain to stripping. When I watched this video of her doing all these techniques, it made me want to try it. it may sound funny, but I just want to have fun and see how strong I am to hold my body up. I showed my roommates the video, and they were very impressed as well. We plan to take a day out to go to a pole dancing class. Also I have heard its a great exercise too!

"The Birth and Life of Opera"

Well I hope I watched the right video, which was almost a hour long!!! There is a lot about opera that was just way out there. The video was a little bit boring to me, which became dreading. It was too long, and I was getting a little annoyed by all the opera singing. While watching I did try to imagine living in the opera times, and it would have been crazy. If there was a way we could go back in time, I don't think I would have liked it back then, but I'm sure it would have been a experience to see everyone in their clothing attire.
I found this dress that I'm sure women would have wore back then, and I think it is so beautiful! I would have wore it myself.

Pjotr Sapegin's Madama Butterfly animation

All I can say is wow! While watching Pjotr Sapegin's Madama Butterfly animation I thought it was pretty interesting. It was an animation that I never experienced before, my eyes where glued to the computer. It was pretty funny at times too, to see the baby come out as a fish. I wish it was a little longer, I would have liked to see how the little girl adapted in life with her dad and the other children.

Class today... (Aug. 29th)

In class yesterday, I found it interesting besides the fact I was pretty tired for some reason. I like that fact that we were introduced to opera. I really don't like opera, but the way Professor Steinhardt lectured about it was interesting. I like the fact that professor told us to, "suspend our beliefs" into opera and think deep about it. Now I'm actually interested in learning about opera.
In the last part of class, I loved looking at Jonty Hurwitz's art work, I found it mind blowing that our perception can change the way things look. I'm curious to see more of his work.

Fireworks in Dubai

First a estimated $20 million? Really?
The fireworks were really a site to see, I wonder how it was to experience it in person. There were a lot of fireworks that were nonstop, but I think some of them weren't even necessary. To me the ones on the left were just there for light. The camera was just focusing on the ones on the right, I don't think this was worth $20 million, but it was probably a different experience in person to see it with your own eye. What made it interesting to me is that it was completely pitch black in Dubai, the fireworks lite up everything; I didn't expect for it to be completely dark. If this video wasn't a assignment I don't think I would have sat here and watched the whole thing. Now if I was in Dubai watching them I think it would have been a different story. I can say they seemed to have many different fireworks that I have not seen before.
